Alicia:

Welcome back to Midlife and Glowing. I'm Alicia.

Nicole:

And I'm Nicole.

Alicia:

In our main episode this week, we talked all about energy. How everything from light to sound to even the fabrics we wear carries a frequency that impacts how we feel. And we know for so many people, coffee is their daily energy ritual. It's the first thing they reach for in the morning to wake up, and with National Coffee Day right around the corner, we thought this would be the perfect time to talk about the energy of coffee. The ritual, the connection, the benefits, and how to enjoy it in a way that truly supports you.

Nicole:

Exactly. Because the truth is caffeine isn't actual energy, it's a stimulant. It works by blocking adenosine, which is a chemical in your brain that makes you feel tired. So it tricks your body into feeling more awake, but it's not creating new energy. And while that quick boost can feel amazing, too much can leave you more drained, anxious, or wide awake at 2:00 AM That's why we've both shifted how we drink it. I usually go with a one third caff from Purity Coffee and Alicia drinks decaf. We still love the ritual, but we don't depend on caffeine to push us through the day.

Alicia:

And honestly, the ritual is the part that matters most. Coffee is connection. It's meeting your girlfriends at a cafe. It's the first quiet sip before the house wakes up, or even those childhood memories of smelling grandma's pot brewing in the morning. That comfort and joy, that's energy too. My teenage daughter, is currently working at a coffee shop and she absolutely loves it. She comes home and always says how much she loves her job. She just really, really enjoys it and I can absolutely see how that would be a great job to have, you know, being surrounded by coffee and that connection. so I'm really glad that she loves it. She comes home smelling like coffee. She's like, mom, even my

Alicia:

like coffee.

Nicole:

That's awesome. Yeah, coffee, the smell of coffee is so amazing. I actually remember reading like forever ago. I used to listen to Faith Hill a lot, and I remember her saying that I don't think she likes the taste of coffee, but she loves the smell of it. And she would put cups of coffee around her house for the smell. but I mean, you walk into a coffee shop and you just, that smell just immediately

Alicia:

It's like

hug.

Nicole:

Yeah, it does something to you for sure. I have really great memories of, from when I was in college, I went to school at Madison for my first three years of undergrad, and there was a Starbucks on State Street. And I remember going there around the holidays when they had like their, you know, special holiday flavor or whatever, and just drinking that and like the smell of the atmosphere and just being in that energy was just special. You know, it's, it's a good feeling. And also, here's good news. When you enjoy coffee mindfully, it can have real health benefits. It's rich in antioxidants. It supports brain health and studies link it to a lower risk of things like type two diabetes and even neurological conditions. The key is quality and moderation with caffeine. A high quality organic coffee can be a nourishing part of your day, especially when you see it as more than just a quick fix.

Alicia:

So maybe think of your coffee ritual as a grounding practice, not just a caffeine boost. Pair it with journaling, a few minutes of stillness, or even sitting outside in the morning light. Suddenly that cup of coffee isn't just a drink. It's part of an energy ritual that supports your body, mind, and spirit. And in honor of National Coffee Day, we wanna celebrate this ritual with you because one of our listeners is getting coffee on us. Here's how to enter number one, leave us a quick review on Apple Podcast or Spotify. Follow us on TikTok at midlife and glowing and drop a comment on our latest video. Nicole:

Now we'll wrap this glow bite with today's glow reflection, a quote from Zig Ziglar. Make today worth remembering. Whether that's savoring a cup of coffee, connecting with a friend or choosing energy that truly supports you, make it count.

Alicia:

We hope this inspires you to rethink your coffee ritual, not just as a caffeine fix, but as a moment of energy, connection, and joy in your day.

Nicole:
